let's talk basics...
select
Choose a shallow container for your flower arrangement. It could be a vase, bowl, or any suitable vessel and the mouth opening should be at least 3" wide.
prepare
Place the flower frog at the base of the container. The pointed metal or plastic pins should be facing upward.
pour
Pour water into the container, ensuring that the flower frog is submerged. This will keep your flowers fresh.
cut
Trim the flower stems to the desired length and remove any excess foliage or thorns that might be submerged in water.
insert
Hold each stem above the flower frog and gently press the stem onto the metal pins. The pins will secure the stems in place.
arrange
Start with the focal flowers or larger blooms, inserting them into the frog to create the basic structure of your arrangement.
add
Place leaves, foliage, and smaller flowers to fill in the gaps and create a balanced look.
create
Vary the heights of the stems by inserting them at different depths into the frog, giving your arrangement depth and dimension.
adjust
Step back and assess your arrangement's overall shape and balance. Make any necessary adjustments by adding or repositioning stems.
real talk
What is a flower frog?
In simple terms, a flower frog, also known as a kenzan, is a device used in flower arranging to hold and stabilize stems in place. Dating back to the 14th century, Flower Frogs were used in Japan to arrange flowers. These frogs came in many different materials including various kinds of pottery, glass, and metal, and were designed to help arrange your delicate blooms in an attractive and easy-to-present manner.
If you love to feature flowers, but they never seem to fall like the influencer or bridal shop that you follow on Instagram, these are for you. They make arranging flowers in a vase or just by themselves a breeze. The flower frog is easy to use and can help create unique stunning works of art with your favorite flowers.
our brass frog
Our brass frog is our sturdy, heavy companion that will be able to handle any arrangement, no matter the size. It can be placed in a variety of vessels with ease and can withstand heavy-duty floral arrangements.
You will notice that this frog has a removable rubber cover that helps cushion your frog against your vessels, ensuring that your vase doesn't get scratched. It also makes cleaning a breeze.
our clear frog
On the other hand, the clear variant, while lighter and equipped with suction cups, may benefit from added support with larger arrangements.
For this, we suggest a simple yet effective solution—applying floral tape or museum putty to the bottom of the clear frog prior to putting water in your vessel to amplify its stability.

best practices
-
Choose the Right Size: Select a container that your flower frog fits in with a little bit of space. The frog pin should sit comfortably at the base without being too large or too small. A proper fit ensures stability for your arrangement.
-
Create a Stable Base: Place the flower frog on a flat and even surface at the bottom of the container. This foundation will provide stability and prevent the arrangement from tipping over.
-
Strategic Stem Placement: When inserting stems, position them at different angles and depths. This creates a natural and dynamic look while ensuring the arrangement stays securely anchored to the flower arrangement holder.
-
Start with Structure: Begin by inserting the larger, sturdier stems to establish the arrangement's basic shape and structure. These stems provide a framework upon which you can build the rest of the arrangement.
-
Balanced Distribution: Distribute the weight of the stems evenly across the flower stem holder. This prevents overloading one area and maintains stability. As you add stems, step back periodically to assess balance and make adjustments.
-
Added Stability: For larger flower arrangements, applying floral tape or putty to the bottom of your flower frog will ensure your flowers stay put. This is a best practice, especially when traveling with your blooms.
-
Versatility: Not the best plant Mom? Do you prefer the look of faux flowers? These flower frogs can be used with faux, fresh, or dried flowers. If you're using faux or dried flowers, there is no need to put water in your vessel (unless you love that look).
-
Bundle When Needed: Thick stems will slide right into the frog pins, but thinner stems will not. Bundle thinner stems together and wrap a small amount of clear tape around the bottom of the stems. This will help create a large stem, allowing your blooms to be inserted into the pins.
