Maintenance
I want you to love your flower press and love it for years to come, and that's why I made my flower press from quality products. From the premium Pine Wood press boards to upgrading the tweezers and scissors to stainless steel, I don't want you to worry about breaking boards or snapping utensils. I'll just need a little help from you. Properly maintaining your flower press is essential to ensure its longevity and effectiveness. In this blog, I'll cover some essential tips and tricks for keeping your flower press in top condition so you can continue to enjoy the beauty of pressed flowers for years to come.
Changing Materials
After removing flowers from your flower press, allowing the blotting paper to fully dry before using it again is important. Keep any blotting paper in a sealed bag to maintain it's drying absorbency. If you notice minimal discoloration on the boards, swap them out as needed. Once the paper has lost its absorbency, it's time to order new paper or sponges.
Pressed Flowers Storage
You will need to keep your pressed flowers in a container to help preserve them. Plastic storage containers are a practical option to keep air out and organize flowers by style. If you prefer a more aesthetic container, wooden storage units with layers are popular among professional flower pressers.
Cleaning
After pressing your flowers, wipe down the wooden boards with soap and water to remove any plant residue or moisture. Dry the press boards with a paper towel or rag. Keeping the press clean helps prevent mold growth and preserves its longevity.
Muslin Travel Bag
I hope you will take your flower press on many adventures in the wilderness this year and use your muslin bag companion along the way. To help preserve it, hand wash the bag with mild soap and water. This will help ensure that your travel bag will last longer.
